|2007 Fall District Convention - Rochester, MN
October 26 - 28, 2007
|VOCALITY - Classic Acapella Sound|
VOCALITY sings, tells stories and helps you hear notes that aren't being sung - Vocality makes you feel good. The music comes from thoughts and dreams - the performance comes from the heart.
The performance is intimately personal and while songs can be performed by an infinite number of qualified artists, it is the magic of spirit that makes Vocality's performance extraordinary. Our purpose is to create a magical intimate party that you are invited to attend, so while you are sitting in the middle of an audience, Vocality sings not to the multitudes, but just to you!
Vocality performs for the sheer love of music. We feel privileged to enjoy the fellowship of our barbershop friends from all over the country, especially those right here at home in the LO'L District. It is truly an honor for us to have been chosen to represent the Land 0' Lakes District this past year in Denver at the International Convention. Vocality has a genuine love of barbershop and we are proud to continue our dedication to barbershop harmony.
From our inception in February 2007, Vocality's philosophy has been to preserve the art of barbershop and acapella music, to help move the Society forward and to commit our heart and soul to every performance. Our goal is to spark youthful enthusiasm while inspiring young people to see music in a whole new light, to keep acapella harmony alive and pass it on from our generation to the next.
Vocality is comprised of energetic and enthusiastic men of today.
Tony Blackwood sings the lead part. He is the storyteller of the group and will make you laugh, cry or help you find a simple smile in your heart. Offstage he is busy working two jobs, one as a Private Investigator and the other as a Service Specialist at Hartford Life Insurance. When he isn't working or performing himself, Tony spends time with his wife Angela, enjoying more barbershop music with her Sweet Adeline chorus.
Jay Althof sings tenor just right to put the 'glitz' into every chord. Jay has been singing in quartets for many years both as tenor and lead. Like the other guys, he has represented the LO'L District in champion quartets - although Jay supports two such awards. He has his hands full at home raising two teenage daughters with his wife Beth. In addition, Jay works for Greenheck Fan Corporation as a Division Vice President. You'll really like him; he's down to earth and very sincere.
David Boyd sings the rich bass notes that make us sound so big. He has a great smile which reflects his kind and friendly nature. David works full time as a Buyer at The J.B.Hudson Company. He and his wife Jane enjoy traveling, spending time together and working with her natural skincare business. David feels that performing is a personal and emotional expression, and is most comfortable sharing and singing what is in his heart.
Robert Albachten sings baritone. He is very creative, but sometimes we don't understand his creativity and just think he's weird. Robert works as a Personal Care Attendant for a man with quadriplegia and attends school full-time at Metropolitan State University where he is pursuing a career in Secondary Math and Science Education. Robert brings years of experience, enthusiasm and a love of the spotlight to every performance.
